National Cancer Institute is a part of National Institutes of Health (NIH) and US Federal Government’s principal agency for cancer research and training. Established since 1937, NCI has been contributing towards the diagnosis, causes, prevention and treatment and care of cancer patients. NCI supports and coordinates research projects conducted by various institutes, hospitals and foundations to broaden the search for causes and treatment of various forms of cancer. Many of the cancer centers in the US are awarded affiliation with NCI for their hard work and recognition in the field of cancer.
NCI is dedicated to helping specialists and researchers get an insight into various forms of cancer and support them in clinical trials and training activities all over the country. These programs aim to find a clue to various cancers including mesothelioma and search for better ways to treat and diagnose this cancer.

Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center – Maryland
The Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins offers a wide variety of cancer programs for children as well as adults that include transplantation and drug development. People at risk of cancer are also tended here and educated about early detection, prevention and genetic counseling through a comprehensive genetics service program.
Being one of the Comprehensive Cancer Centers as designated by National Cancer Institute (NCI), the Kimmel Cancer Center is actively participating in clinical researches, laboratory research, education, community service and prevention and control of cancer to rid the world of this deadly disease. Kimmel Cancer Center is the only NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center in the state of Maryland serving people throughout the state.
