Memorial for Cape Asbestos Factory Workers and Families - Asbestos Victims’ Support Group demands

May 23, 2007 on 3:55 pm | In Mesothelioma News |

A petition has been submitted to the Government by the members of Barking and Dagenham Asbestos Victims Support Group (BAD Asbestos), to commemorate a memorial for the lives of Cape Asbestos Factory workers. These workers died from the diseases resulting from asbestos exposure when they worked at the plant. The number of workers who died due to asbestos exposure is said to be in hundreds as it affected shop floor workers, office staff as well as family members of these workers when they inhaled asbestos from their work clothing. Even the people living near the factory were not safe and lost their lives due to asbestos exposure.

Due to the lingering effects of asbestos at Cape Asbestos Plant in the area that operated during 1913 – 1968, asbestos related diseases, especially mesothelioma, are still being reported in Barking, a town in Great Britain.
