Asbestos exposure is the main reason responsible for malignant mesothelioma. According to recent research, there is a latency period of thirty to forty years between starting exposure and disease development with average between fifteen and thirty years. You will find that the mesothelioma incidence increases with the intensity and exposure duration to asbestos. Prolonged asbestos exposure can cause number of serious health issues. It includes asbestosis and lung cancer. Asbestosis can be termed as an excess asbestos accumulation in the lungs that can lead to fibrosis. On the other hand, lung cancer is one of the main causes of death occurring because of asbestos exposure.
Majority of insulation materials in the 80s contained asbestos. Lots of other construction materials also contained asbestos. The best example in this regard is boiler insulation, clutches, brakes, insulation on pipes, fireproofing spray, ceiling tiles, insulating cements and floor.

Because of its chemical resistance and tensile strength, asbestos has been widely used in plenty of building products. However, one must not ignore the fact that asbestos is quite hazardous to workers that are dealing with it. Even worse, it is also dangerous for other people in the locality when it gets into the air and is inhaled. In medical terms, asbestos is a carcinogen that is responsible for mesothelioma and lung cancer. Because of all this, laws have been enacted so that asbestos exposures can be prevented. They include below mentioned requirements:
Recent study has come to the conclusion that there is a tremendous increase in lung cancer among workers that are being exposed to asbestos. The exposed workers who are indulging in smoking are the main reason behind this increase. Almost all the asbestos lung cancer begins in the bronchi lining, the tubes where the partition of trachea takes place. However, in some cases asbestos lung cancer can also start in portions such as the alveoli, trachea and bronchioles. Although lung cancer develops at a very slow pace but once it occurs, there is a strong possibility that it can spread to other body portions. Asbestos lung cancer is of two types, small cell lung cancer and non-small cell lung cancer. In small cell lung cancer, cancer cells are normally round and small whereas in non-small cell lung cancer, cancer cells are quite bigger.

That’s good that there are some laws that require you to be notified of asbestos dangers, however that doesn’t mean that every company will correctly notify their employees of this danger. That’s when someone needs to contact a Mesothelioma asbestos attorney. I believe most cases against companies are filed because the company knowingly did not notify employees of asbestos dangers in the work environment.
